BuildBlock ICFs featured on PBS Hometime this season

BuildBlock is proud to partner with the long-running Hometime program on PBS. BuildBlock ICFs were chosen to build the frost wall below the basement and the basement walls as well. It was an exciting time in Minnesota braving the cold and heavy snow, but the project worked out well. Check your local PBS station for air times. The BuildBlock product manufactured just a few miles away at our plant and delivered to the site. Regional manufacturing in one component of LEED certification for any home.

Onsite for portions of the project were Brian Corder and Dennis Micoff with BuildBlock and supervising the installation was Brad Kvanbek and his team at ICF Construction. Brad is a veteran of ICF installation throughout Minnesota. He and his team supervised the excavation and pouring of the footings, and the installation and pour of the frost wall. The next step after the frost wall was poured (and the 12 inches of snow were melted) was to finish stacking the basement walls and pouring the final courses of ICF.

Later in this series, we will also go behind the scenes at the plant to see what it took to get the product to the site on time, on schedule, and on budget. The BuildBlock ICFs will ensure the foundation and basement stays warm, dry, and safe for decades to come.

Hometime was one of the longest-running home improvement programs on television — airing for 27 years on PBS and 12 in commercial syndication. With that kind of experience base, it’s not hard to deliver on the core values of compelling content and practical advice for homeowners.
