Reiner Family Builds Ultimate Energy Efficient BuildBlock ICF Home on Lake Miltona

For Immediate Release- MILTONA, MN— Dorothy and Glen Reiner are building a lake home using BuildBlock Insulating Concrete Forms (ICFs) and GlobalBlock, BuildBlock’s new all foam ICF.  This system creates the most energy efficient structures possible with modern technology. Located on the stunning Lake Miltona in Miltona, MN; the Reiners decided to build a home that incorporates some of their favorite features from past projects while also introducing new technology and energy efficiency through BuildBlock ICFs.

Building a BuildBlock ICF concrete home saves energy and money. The greater insulation, tighter construction and temperature-moderating mass of the concrete walls conserve heating and cooling energy much better than conventional wood-frame walls. Building with ICFs decreases your utility bills 40%-60% each month and makes your home quiet, comfortable and disaster resistant.

The family incorporated BuildBlock’s traditional ICFs with GlobalBlock throughout home. GlobalBlock is the first fully-reversible, web optional, all foam ICF that is compatible with all BuildBlock blocks. GlobalBlock keeps all the benefits of an ICF home while providing the best value, being the lower costing ICF,  35% less concrete and gaining 43% more insulation over traditional ICFs.

“Every aspect of working with BuildBlock was interesting and positive,” said Dorothy Reiner. “Every person that has worked on the project has been very professional and very pleasant to work and visit with.  We highly recommend BuildBlock and the people representing the company. Good service is something that we look for and we found it with BuildBlock.”

The New England barn style lake home has two stories as well as a full basement in ICF. The exterior will have brown siding/stone panels, a red steel roof and red trim around the windows. There will be a cupola on the top of the house and a non-operating barn door beside the front door. Using reclaimed wood and timbers to add to the “rustic” style, the interior main floor has a large great room and kitchen for family gatherings of their twenty four family members. On the main floor, there is a bedroom, office and four season porch with an art studio area.

“One nice feature of the entire home being built with BuildBlock is that the home has enough room for our family and yet it will be as easy to heat as a much smaller home. It’s Cozy when it is just the two of us, yet comfortable when our family and friends fill it up,” said Dorothy.

The Reiners are excited at the thought of low heating costs as they look forward to enjoying this home on Lake Miltona with their five sons, spouses, and twelve grandchildren. This home is projected to be completed this winter.
