BuildBlock ICFs Releases BuildBuck ICF Door & Window Bucking
Oklahoma City, OK – BuildBlock Building Systems is excited to announce the release of BuildBuck ICF Door & Window Bucking. BuildBuck is the ideal insulating bucking solution for door and window openings in a BuildBlock ICF project. BuildBuck is the longest EPS ICF buck on the market at 52-inches (132mm) and is designed to create a 4040 (4-ft x 4-ft) rough opening without any cutting. This product is available in 11-inch and 13-inch widths for 6-inch and 8-inch BuildBlock, BuildLock, and 6-inch GlobalBlock products and will be available December 2015.
BuildBuck was designed to complement BuildBlock ICF products and integrates beneficial features such as the standard numbering system, and marked cut-lines making measuring and cutting the buck simple and straightforward. Full-length attachment points on each side of the buck are embedded ½-inch below the foam adding strength and preventing thermal bridging. The top face of the buck provides seven (7) full width connections every 6-inches and half size connectors at each end in the center and eight (8) attachment points on the outer edges. The attachment points on the face and along the sides of the product ensure secure connections for windows, door frames, and finishes. Foam only spaces between the attachment points in the face of the buck are marked to make cutting access ports for concrete consolidation easy.
“For the past 10 years we have recommended a variety of bucking products to meet the needs of our customers, but none of the products currently on the market check all the boxes I need on the job site.” says Mike Garrett, BuildBlock CEO. “A buck must be light to ship efficiently and be easy to work with on the job site, extremely strong, assemble with as few cuts as possible, prevent thermal bridging, and create a unified seamless transition from wall to buck. We looked at lots of solutions in the industry and decided to bring our ideas to market to ensure the best BuildBlock Products experience from concept through completion was fully accomplished.”
BuildBuck is created by the combination of 3 separate I-beam polystyrene webs integrated into EPS foam with mechanical attachment into the concrete. The two outer beams are used to attach new construction windows or flush mount replacement windows as well as continuous sheetrock and finish attachment. The BuildBuck center support has 8 “T” locks which embed into the concrete, anchoring the buck in place, and providing rigid attachment for commercial or replacement style windows. These rigid connections provide the support needed for both commercial applications and storm ready window systems.
BuildBuck provides a superior bucking experience through the inclusion of patented and patent-pending BuildBlock technology. BuildBlock continues to refine existing products and introduce new products into the market to build the most energy-efficient, cost-effective, and disaster resistant homes and buildings possible.
